HOUSE WALKERSONS

This house is located in Walkersons Estate in Dullstroom, on a site with 270 degrees of magnificent views. The layout of the house provides that two families would be able to live harmoniously in a single home with a gathering space in the centre, which makes it ideal for a holiday home. The client requested an art gallery as part of the foyer. Fins were provided to display the client’s extensive art collection, while windows between the fins captures picture-frame views of the landscape, framing the landscape as part of the art.

The plan wraps around a natural courtyard which enabled privacy of the two-bedroom wings as well as drawing the natural landscape into the house, while a long wrap-around verandah flanks the south-east of the house, protected by a pergola - opening the living space to the views.
