HOUSE RICHTER - PIKETBERG, WESTERN CAPE

Situated in Wheatfields Estate, Piketberg.

The aim was to create an open plan house with a Modern Cape Vernacular style as far as the strict Estate Guidelines would allow.

Piketberg is known for its very hot, dry summers and cold and rainy winters. Therefore window size and positioning was planned to maximise light and cross ventilation while minimising heat gain during the summer and optimising heat gain during the winter by taking advantage of the lower sun altitude.
