This Bushveld House is located in the Moditlo Wildlife Estate just outside of Hoedspruit, Limpopo, which is home to a bursting population of wildlife including lions, leopards and elephants, among many others. The client requested a house which would fulfil their need of accommodating extended family and guests while maintaining privacy of their own home. The layout and shape of the plan was largely determined by the position of the mature trees on the site.
Large windows aim to capture specific views of the trees and the river beyond. Generous and deep-set verandahs for the living and bedroom spaces facilitate indoor-outdoor living and protect the house from the harsh sun. The two wings of the house are angled away from each other, offering private living to both the main home and private guest suites, while simultaneously providing a protected entrance into the house.
